We recently wrote an article about the 2018 paint colors of the year but I wanted to better understand the process of how a color is selected and what affect it has on sales. I reached out to the Voice of Color, PPG Paints, to learn about how they selected Black Flame as the color of the year as well as ask for any tips they have on selecting paint colors for your home. Dee Schlotter, PPG Paints Senior Color Marketing Manager, was kind enough to answer my questions and provide great insight on the process.
We are lucky to be able to work in many beautiful old homes such as in Lakewood, Shaker Heights or Ohio City. While we know what a difference a professional paint job can do in an older home, there is one project that may even make for a more dramatic transformation.... Refinishing old hardwood floors! In 2017 we worked on a few homes where the floors were being re-done at the same time by Alex Oster and his team at Natural Choice Hardwood Floors. I caught up with Alex to talk about his company as well as the process and price for getting hardwood floors refinished.
I recently had an opportunity to catch up with Ben Gertz of Gertz Building Company out of Bay Village to learn about his family business as well as the home building and renovation industry. I first met Ben about a year ago when we were both completing the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Tri-C.

Buying or selling a home can be an intimidating and often overwhelming experience. This is why you need not just an experienced professional but a team of real estate professionals on your side. I was recently able to talk with a friend of mine, Pete Formica, a licensed Real Estate Agent and the Team Leader for Keller Williams' Safe Harbor Team. He has been a licensed agent since 2000 and has worked through the ups and downs of the market over the past decade and half.
Moving your belongings should be an exciting time (moving to a new home, a new community, etc) but for most it is a task that brings extreme vitriol. Moving from one home to another can be so stressful but luckily you can hire a professional moving company to make things a lot easier. Hiring the right company is the difficult part but if done correctly it will make moving a lot easier and you won't even need to beg everyone you know to come over with the promise of beer and pizza!
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Joe Work, the owner of Seasonal Yard Work, based in Avon, OH. I first learned about Seasonal Yard Work a few years ago when I was looking for a company to provide Fall aeration and lawn mowing at my home and I became a customer.
This Friday, September 22, 2017 is the first day of fall and as the seasons change there are a handful of important things to do as a homeowner to make sure your home is ready for the winter and following spring and summer.
When thinking about exterior home maintenance and curb appeal most homeowners are missing an important large area of their home; their concrete. You concrete driveway and walkways are extremely expensive to replace and because they are such large surfaces they dramatically affect the curb appeal of your property. Applying a concrete sealant periodically to your concrete not only will keep the concrete looking great but it will significantly extend its life. In this article, I will explain not only why it is so important but also how to go about doing it yourself if you choose to do so. At the end I will also share how much we charge to seal concrete driveways and walkways in case you want to hire a professional.
A team of our house painters in Berea was working hard this week to transform an older home with a bold new color pallette. We helped this homeowner select colors by providing a color consultation and painting samples up on the house.
We were lucky enough to be chosen to paint the interior and exterior of the Thomas Edison Birthplace museum in Milan, OH. The professional painters on the Textbook Painting team were honored to work on such an historic home and we actually received recognition in a couple of painting magazines as well as local newspapers. The project was completed in conjunction with PPG Paints as part of their Colorful Communities initiative.
