Best Interior Paints for Your Home

Sherwin Williams should definitely be a name you’ve heard of if you’re talking about the best interior paints. It is undeniably in the top 5 leading paint companies. Some might even argue that it IS the best.

Here at Textbook Painting, Sherwin Williams is absolutely one of the paints we use the most for interior painting, as well as exterior painting jobs. From the world class quality to the amazing coverage, it is easy to see why it’s a top choice. It’s so easy to see, in fact, that J.D. Power just awarded them the “Highest in Customer Satisfaction among Interior Paints” for this year. Below, I’ll go over the 4 types of paint we use most commonly here and what’s so great about them.

Best Interior Paints Sherwin Williams Cashmere

Cashmere Interior Acrylic Latex is called “ultra-smooth and rich” with a “silky finish” on the Sherwin Williams website. It claims it is the “most forgiving paint” that “offers outstanding coverage” and is “perfect for painters with limited experience”. Though they claim it, we can agree that it “looks, feels and applies smooth and buttery”. This happens to be one of those paints that just looks good from every angle, especially with it’s “outstanding coverage and hide”. My personal favorite thing about this paint is that it is “scrubbable for easy cleaning and maintenance.”

Best Interior Paints Sherwin Williams Duration

Duration Home Interior Acrylic Latex has “exclusive cross linking technology that actually repels stains” and “advanced stain blocking technology to seal in stains already on your walls”. Because of this, we won’t recommend any other paint if stains are a concern, as we know this product performs and does what it says. It’s also a favorite because with a little water, and sometimes soap, most stains will wipe away. Don’t worry about washing off the shine or color though, because this product is designed to resist that. It “goes on smoothly and quickly and offers excellent hide” which makes it perfect for high traffic areas of your house, like a kitchen or hallway. The other great thing about this product is that it is a paint and primer in one, which means less paint you’d have to use. Lastly, this product has “anti-microbial agents inhibit the growth of mold and mildew on the paint surface”.

Best Interior Paints Sherwin Williams Emerald

Emerald Interior Acrylic Latex Paint is considered “best-in-class overall performance”. This product has a “beautiful, smooth finish” that will leave you with a “stunning color for years to come”. If you’re painting a wall that currently has a dark color on it, this would be the paint for you as it offers “truly remarkable hide”. This paint is also great at preventing “stains from penetrating” and “offers maximum resistance to water streaking and spotting”. This paint and primer in one also is certified for low chemical emissions as well, which means it’s great to use in rooms that don’t have a lot of ventilation. Just like the Duration paint, this product has “anti-microbial agents inhibit the growth of mold and mildew on the paint surface”.

Best Interior Paints Sherwin Williams Emerald Trim

Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel is a “smooth and luxurious finish for doors and trim” that helps round out any good painting project. Because of this product’s ability to withstand wear and tear, it’s “perfect for areas that get cleaned frequently”. It also requires less coats than some other products you might use instead, which makes it the obviously better choice.

All of these products are great, and we use them on a daily basis here. Thinking about what kind of project you’re going to be completing will help you choose which one is right for you. If you have just a regular wall that’s already a plain color and not in a high traffic area, Cashmere is the paint for you. But if you’re looking for a more high traffic area where stains are a real possibility, Duration is probably what you should go with. Emerald, on the other hand, is great for covering dark colors, or using in a room with low ventilation or more moisture. And lastly, you'd finish any project off with Emerald Trim, since it's a great overall product.
